OuroWorld: Bringing Any 3D World Alive as Diverse, Endlessly Looping 3D Cinemagraphs
TLDR
OuroWorld turns static 3D Gaussian Splatting scenes into looping 3D cinemagraphs with diverse motion, using VLM-guided video generation and periodic 4DGS, outperforming baselines on 39 scenes.
Reasoning
The paper proposes a novel mask-free framework for animating static 3D scenes with looping motion, backed by multiple evaluations including user studies. However, the method depends on imperfect generated reference videos and ground-truth-free metrics, and its generalizability to complex real-world dynamics remains uncertain.

Innovations
- Mask-free framework that turns any static 3D Gaussian Splatting scene into a 3D cinemagraph with diverse, endlessly looping motion from any viewpoint.
- Vision-language model guided reference video synthesis that infers plausible dynamics and is lifted and completed into multi-view videos.
- Inconsistency-Robust Periodic 4DGS representation with a Fourier-series deformation field that guarantees looping by construction.
- Grounded Drift Field anchored at the reference view to absorb cross-view inconsistency in imperfect lifted supervision.
- Extends dynamic scene modeling beyond prior Eulerian fluid-like motion to general deformation, object motion, and illumination change.
- Ground-truth-free evaluation protocol covering vividness, naturalness, loop seam coherence, and scene quality.
Methodology
OuroWorld takes a static 3D Gaussian Splatting scene and uses a vision-language model to infer plausible dynamics, guiding a video model to synthesize a reference video that is then lifted and completed into multi-view videos. It learns dynamic scenes with Inconsistency-Robust Periodic 4DGS, where a Fourier-series deformation field guarantees looping by construction and a Grounded Drift Field anchored at the reference view absorbs cross-view inconsistency. Evaluation uses 39 reconstructed and generated scenes with ground-truth-free metrics and user studies.
Key Results
On 39 reconstructed and generated scenes, OuroWorld outperforms all baselines and wins 70.8%-99.0% of user-study comparisons across vividness, naturalness, loop seam coherence, and scene quality.
Limitations
- Learns from imperfect supervision because the reference video and lifted multi-view videos are synthesized rather than ground-truth observations.
